REQUEST FORMS
A Library Defined Question Input Form for Every Type of Library Request
By providing new question entry forms with text and data entry fields tailored for each piece of information that needs to be collected about each specific type of request that comes into your library, RefTracker Request forms provide tailored reference interviews for those who prefer to visit your library via its web pages. They also facilitate quality controlled acceptance of requests by staff other than reference librarians through the staff new questions screen.
In each form you can choose as many, or as few, input fields as are appropriate for the purpose of your new form. You can make individual fields mandatory for completion, or optional, as appropriate. Libraries can even pre-set default values into some fields of a form, including the location from which the form has come, and the type of question being submitted, without necessarily showing these values to the client. Request forms also allow the size of a field input box to be defined, the label for that field to be specified, any textual instructions for the use of that field to be specified, and headings and other formatting elements to be defined.
Because each form has a location, a request type, and an allocation method, associated with it, incoming questions can be intelligently allocated according to the information included in that specific request form e.g. photocopy requests to the document delivery librarian, requests from the science library to the least busy librarian in the science library, and local history requests to the least busy local history librarian no matter which branch they are located in. RefTracker's allocation routines are comprehensive enough to address the needs of even the largest libraries.
Without the assistance of your IT department RefTracker allows you to create forms for each of the different type of requests coming into your library, and ensures that the questions that are submitted through them are handled professionally, efficiently, and by the most appropriate staff.
RefTracker Request forms are utilized to provide the RefTracker Web Forms Service - a service providing web forms designed to meet specific library needs without the need for any IT assistance or library knowledge of web forms and data collection.
